# 16 days Campaign- DAY – 8, An awareness seminar on sexual violence against women and children was held on 02.12.2022 at VCDS Vellakulam Center. It was organized by our CBO Ms. Kowsalya, director VCDS in coordination with the department of social welfare and ADECOM Network with the support of Maitri.

Ms. Lalidamballe, Managing Trustee, has explained the objective and raised awareness on types of VAW. She highlighted the child marriage on that day. Because, in rural villages it happens more.

Protection officer Ms. Muthamizh sheela has explained the activities and services of the social welfare department and how they are providing counseling and rehabilitation to the victimized women.

Ms. Sridevi, Counselor, one stop service center- she raised awareness about the OSC, – activities services, where it is located in villupuram district, women helpline number 181 and how they are handing and following up the cases.

Mr. Krishnamurthy, School Education Protection Secretary – He raised the awareness of children protection, their rights and how parents and teachers should take care of them.

Ms. Vijaya, sub inspector, AWPS – She raised awareness on filing FIR against the perpetrator. Because, most of the time women are afraid to file complaints. Also, she explained the steps of FIR and Charge Sheet filing.

Ms. Radha, sub inspector, AWPS – She raised awareness on the KAVALAN SOS app, and helpline number 100.

Ms. Ambika, Advocate, DLSA – She explained about the services DLSA. Deputy Principal of Union Government Teacher Training School, Mrs. Ms. Muthamil, Brahmadesam Police Station Assistant Police Inspector Mr. Rajesh, Chief Medical Officer, Brahmadesam PHC. Mrs. Subashini and Mrs. Ponniammal also joined the meeting. More than 100 women from Anganwadi Teachers, community group members and village women participated and benefitted.
