On 28.12.2022, AMWVTC organized Gender Equality training for the youths in kuttiyakuppam village , Cuddalore district. Mr.Veran Welcome the participants , later Ms.Suda Co Ordinator explain by the way of games to the participants. First asked the youth to stand in a big circle, then male and female participants were identified inside the circle, then the participants were made to stand as one female, then one male, followed by a female. During the game the participants are asked to stand in small circles and after the first clap the participants run out of the big circle. The girls were told to press one of the small circles when the second round started s should run with both arms raised and then start the game, boys should leave one participant from the game at the end of the second round, clear another small circle before starting the game again and women participants should run with one leg lifted before starting the third round. Before starting the fourth round, female participants were told to raise one arm and run with one leg. At the end of the fourth set of the game, one participant had to hit another small circle in the game. Let’s run After all the girls left the game the game was stopped After the game the youth was asked what do you understand by this game the youth said only women were restricted There was no restriction for men To which Sudha asked Is this game fair to you Who has created such structures in the society? ? He asked why no one asked the question and the youth gave his ideas. Through these structures, the understanding of the effects on women was created among the youth. When asked who can change these structures, the youth said that the society can change them. What was said was very useful for us and they said that in future we will try to change such things and give priority to women in your family.
Return. Mr. Maheshwari attended the Gram Sabha meeting and created an understanding for the youths to come together and give their demands. Then the youths asked questions and gave an explanation. Mr. Maheshwari told us what demands you are going to make in your village. They said that if the youth come together to identify the needs of our village and provide solutions, everything can be done
Ms. Sumathi said that there is a lot of violence against women because we don’t practice gender equality and we don’t give rights to women. Women are the most affected in the society. They have made such names for women in the society, so you should not speak ill of women, you should not look at them in a wrong perspective, you should give rights to women, you should understand women’s feelings, they were given understanding that if women get all the rights available to men, then no violence will happen to women in the society. Mrs.Tamilselvi said about child safety number 1098 and women safety number 181. He was told about the methods of identifying and counseling women victims of violence and providing solutions to them. Feedback from young artists of the discussion was asked What was your favorite thing about this discussion?. In the 24 youth , 16 women & 12 children were participated.
