Date:18.03.2024 Balika Panchayat members monthly meeting held at Jakkampet, Tindivanam  Taluk. In this meeting 20 members participated , this meeting is Organised by Paralegal Volunteer Ms.Abirami. ADECOM Women’s Dignity Center Facilitator Mr. Lakshmipathi, and PLV Ms. Revathi participated and the Balika Panchayat members were divided into two groups by writing the name of the birds and lamps and taking a slip for the person in the slip and making noises like the animal and birds in the slip.

Among them, one group should deliberate on the character traits desired in boys and men and the other group should discuss the character traits desired in girls and women. Then the group of boys recorded comments such as, men are strong and brave, men don’t take it seriously if they make a mistake, men do the hard work, and boys make them study well. If girls are to take care of the house, women should do the housework, cooking is women’s work, they should not go to work, they cannot fulfil their wishes, women are quiet and dependent on others. They posted comments like this. It was also highlighted that there are no different concepts and characteristics of men and women. We are brought up by the society from the birth of a child with the gender discrimination of male and female. This unknowingly within us we grow up with the societal view that this is how men are and this is what women should be.

Women are equal to men, today women are participating in all activities that men can achieve, women are growing in all fields, women are equal to men in all tasks, so men should do these things, we should not stand aside saying that we can’t, here mentioned by the facilitator both men and women are equal. Therefore, the opinion of the members was sought that women are equal to men and it was requested that next month’s meeting be held on non-examination days. Safety and memory development of children were discussed through group sports. Also given the general Announcements to the participants, that is The children were told that if there are destitute children in their area who have lost a parent if Father or Mother, they should file a petition at the Villupuram District Child Protection Office.
