On June 5, 2025, ADECOM Network’s Women’s Resource Centres (WRC) in Karaikal and Kallakurichi districts came together to celebrate World Environment Day with powerful community-driven and youth-focused initiatives.
In Nedungadu village, Karaikal, a Self-Help Group (SHG) meeting was held with 20 women participants who engaged in meaningful discussions on tree plantation, plastic reduction, and maintaining a clean environment. The group took a collective oath to protect nature and conserve water, followed by a symbolic sapling planting ceremony—demonstrating their commitment to sustainability at the grassroots level.
Simultaneously, in Kallakurichi district, WRC organized awareness programs at Government High Schools in Aarampoondi and Seelipatti villages. A total of 71 students and 6 teachers participated in interactive sessions on environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and took part in tree plantation drives within their school campuses. The activities, led by District Coordinator Mr. Ramu, sparked inspiration and responsibility among the young participants.
From rural women to schoolchildren, ADECOM’s Environment Day celebrations highlighted the power of collective action to protect our planet and build a greener tomorrow. ![]()
