Selfless Public Service is True Social Service – Such Social Warriors Never Die! 🌸 The 2nd P. Lalidamballe Memorial Awards 2025 was held on October 14th at DMS Mahal, Villianur, Puducherry, celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of Ms. P. Lalidamballe, a fearless advocate for gender equality, women’s rights, and social justice. The event, jointly organized by ADECOM Network and the Annal Ambedkar Women’s Rationalist Movement, paid a heartfelt tribute to a woman who lived and worked selflessly for others — proving that true social warriors never die; they live on through their service. 💐 Tribute that Inspired Many Hon’ble Mr. M. Kandasamy, Former Minister for Social Welfare, Puducherry, graced the event as Chief Guest. He beautifully said: “Those who serve people selflessly never die — Lalidamballe Amma’s spirit continues to guide us.” The program began with a welcome address by Ms. Manimegalai, State President of the Annal Ambedkar Women’s Rationalist Movement, who reflected on the organization’s history and Lalidamballe Amma’s mission for women’s empowerment. Members Kalpana, Bharathi, Seethalakshmi, Murugamathi, Mahalakshmi, and Thillainayagi shared poetic tributes through songs and verses. To honour her memory, 450 saplings were distributed bearing Ms. Lalidamballe’s portrait. A graceful Bharatanatyam performance by Ms. Eelam Nila added beauty to the occasion. 💬 Voices of Change and Reflection Ms. Mary Anna Dayavathy, Senior Advocate & Notary, remembered Lalidamballe Amma’s compassion for working women and her leadership in ensuring workplace dignity. Ms. Usha Rani, Former Headmistress, spoke of Lalidamballe’s lifelong dedication to social work and her role in shaping many women leaders. Mr. Parthiban Ramasamy, MCA–IICA Certified Independent Director, shared insights on empathy and the importance of nurturing children with love and awareness. Dr. T. Sivakumar, Former Deputy Director, Government of Puducherry, said her presence continues through the work she inspired and that the memorial awards will become a beacon for social service. Adv. S. Perumal, Managing Trustee of ADECOM Network, explained the transparent award selection process, while Ms. Aruna, Social Activist, called on women to educate and empower themselves in Lalidamballe Amma’s path. 🏆 Honouring Change-Makers Six outstanding changemakers were honoured with the Lalidamballe Memorial Awards 2025 for their service to social transformation and women’s empowerment: 🏅 Ms. S. Murugeshwari, Dalit Blessing Charitable Trust, Theni District 🏅 Ms. S. Logitha Kamatchi, Puducherry 🏅 Dr. P. Vedhanayagi, Thendral Movement, Ranipet 🏅 Ms. Alamelu, Rural Women Development Foundation, Salem 🏅 Mr. Vijayachandrasekaran, Sathya Special School, Puducherry 🏅 Dr. Rachna Singh, Puducherry Police Department In addition, five survivors of domestic violence were provided financial support to start small businesses — empowering them toward independence and dignity. 📚 Books that Inspire Minds Two books were released to mark the occasion: 📘 “Women Without Fear at the Workplace” by Adv. S. Perumal 📙 “Eyes That Awaken as Others Close” by Mr. Daniel Sharma The books were reviewed and appreciated by Mr. Prabhakaran (Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee), Dr. Palaniyandi (Principal, Subramaniam Arts & Science College), Prof. Kalaiselvi (Annamalai Govt. College), Writer Siva Ilangovan, Ms. Geetha, Mr. Mohanasundaram, Mr. Gajendran, and Ms. Poornima Arun (CWC Member). 🎶 A Cultural Celebration of Equality Vibrant cultural performances by Tribal and Dalit communities from Cuddalore, Karaikal, Thanjavur, Tiruvannamalai, Chengalpattu, Kallakurichi, Puducherry, and Villupuram districts filled the hall with colour and energy. Students from Rock College and Jawahar Thoran Academy performed traditional songs, Kummi, Parai drumming, and dance — celebrating equality, courage, and culture. 🤝 United in Purpose Ms. Delphin presented the event summary, and Ms. Aarthi delivered the vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by Mr. Usman, Mr. Srikanth, Mr. Radhakrishnan, Ms. Sahana, Mr. John Bosco, and Mr. Lakshmipathi. Over 500 participants, including women, children, writers, teachers, activists, and social leaders from across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, came together in this vibrant celebration of compassion and equality. 🌺 Her Spirit Lives On Ms. P.
