On 19 November 2025, a powerful Monthly Balika Panchayat Meeting was held at Thaiyur village with 18 active young participants, united under the theme:
✨ “Child Marriage – A Violation of Human Rights.” ✨
The session discussed:
🚫 Anyone below 18 years is legally a child
⚖️ Child marriage (Girls <18 / Boys <21) is a punishable offence
💔 Severe physical, emotional & psychological harm caused by early marriage
⚠️ Legal consequences for those involved in conducting such marriages
📞 Emergency Reporting
👉 1098 – To stop child marriage immediately
👉 181 – For forced marriage cases involving women above 18
💡 Participants were strongly encouraged to raise their voices, seek help early, and protect others in their community.
The discussion highlighted the importance of:
🎓 Higher education for girls
🤝 Equal opportunities for boys and girls
💛 Respecting consent and supporting girls’ future dreams
The meeting was successfully coordinated by Mr. John Bosco (ADECOM Dignity Centre Coordinator) and Volunteer Ms. Sandhiya, who motivated the members to become changemakers for a safer tomorrow. 🌟
🌍 Together we can build a community where every girl grows with dignity, freedom & equality.
