ADECOM Network

On 12 January 2026, ADECOM Network – Women Resource Centre, Kallakurichi, organized a 16 Days of Activism awareness programme at Thirukovilur Government Arts and Science College, Kallakurichi District. The programme aimed to sensitise college students on gender-based violence, women’s safety, and cyber crime, with a strong focus on prevention and legal awareness.

Thirukovilur Sub-Collector Mr. Anand Kumar Singh, IAS, participated as the Chief Guest and highlighted the crucial role of youth in preventing violence against women and promoting responsible behaviour in both online and offline spaces.

Sessions on cyber crime awareness were conducted by AWPS Sub Inspector Ms. Anjalai, Ms. Kala, and L & O Grade II Police Constable Mr. Selvam, who explained various forms of cyber crimes, online safety measures, and reporting mechanisms.

The programme was further enriched by addresses from College Principal Mr. Mahavishnu, Thirukovilur Block BDO Mr. Natarajan, and BEO Mr. Venu Gopal, who stressed the importance of early reporting and institutional support.

The programme was coordinated by Ms. Aarthi Epciba (Project Coordinator), Ms. Papitha (Field Coordinator), and Mr. Marimuthu (Caseworker). A total of 4 professors and 120 college students actively participated in the sessions.
