The Monthly Balika Panchayat Members Meeting was successfully conducted on 14 January 2026 at Kuruvamma Pettai Village, Tindivanam Taluk, with the active participation of 15 members.
The session focused on the theme “Addressing Domestic Violence in the Context of Child Marriage,” aiming to build awareness and critical understanding among the participants. Representatives from ADECOM Women’s Dignity Centre, PLV Mrs. Chithra, and Illam Thedi Kalvi Volunteer Ms. Vidhya facilitated the session, beginning with a recap of the harmful impacts of child marriage discussed in previous meetings.
Through case studies from the training manual, participants gained clarity on various forms of domestic violence, including physical abuse, sexual misconduct, economic deprivation, dowry harassment, and sexual violence. The discussion emphasized the importance of engaging men and boys as key change agents, encouraging communities to speak out against violence, uphold the dignity and respect of women, and foster gender-sensitive understanding among children.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Balika Panchayat In-charge Ms. Varnika, marking a meaningful step toward building safer and more equitable communities.
