CBO’s Awareness meeting on VAW

on 8.11.2022, ADECOM Network & CRC organized CBO’s awareness meeting on Violence Against women in Thulukanatham village ,Villupuram district. In the meeting Mrs. Roja welcomed them all to the program. During her speech Mrs. Sudha, the project coordinator, introduced herself, after asking each of them their names, then he made the community members understand about their work and the work of their office. Then she spoke to create understanding among women, children, elders, youth, safety. Firstly, about domestic violence, gender equality, raising girls and raising them equally, and then, how does domestic violence occur? Community group members were made aware of how we should fulfill it and whom should be approached. Girls and boys should be brought up equally in the family. Girls should be given more nutritious items. If they are physically and mentally they are more affected due to lack of nutrition, so give them more nutritious items. Then she told them about the contact number for children and women to contact the government when they are vulnerable, 1098 for children and 1091 for women and about the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act 2013. Then, How victims of domestic violence should approach and seek redress through legal counsel. Then there was talk about child marriage and prevention of child marriage, she told about the age of marriage, then she made people understand about the number of child marriages during the Corona period. They were told about the provision of government schemes for the elderly, fatherless, motherless, differently abled people. The people who are affected by domestic violence through our office to help them find solutions. The officer said that the accommodation will be provided at the head office for a certain period and the affected women will be given access to the Integrated Service Center which will help identify child related problems and take immediate action.The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Ponniammal and Totally 28 Participants.
